Trace the History of World War II, the Bridge over the River Kwai

World War II Historical Route the Bridge over the River Kwai is another historical attraction that many tourists come to visit.

The bridge over the River Kwai, a symbol of Kanchanaburi province, was built during World War II. It is part of the Japanese Army Railway from Nong Pla Duk Junction, Ban Pong District, Ratchaburi Province to Thanbu Sayat, Myanmar, a distance of 415 kilometers.

It is an important bridge of the Death Railway. Some of the construction of this railway had to be bridged over deep water, some had to be curved along the cliffs, some had to be excavated in mountains, this area was full of wild fever and beasts, starvation, cruelty causing tens of thousands of western prisoners of war and railroad workers to lose their lives until there is a comparison that one sleeper of the Death Railway is one life.

Nearby is the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, established in 1954. It has an area of 17 rai located on Saengchuto Road. The cemetery takes on the landscape style of a lawn cemetery and is an open memorial to those lost during World War II.

Landmarks that are interesting and popular with tourists are taking a train to take pictures on the Bridge over the River Kwai and Krasae Cave including another new landmark, the Two-Color River View Point on the banks of the Kwai Yai River, Na Mueang Pier in Kanchanaburi on a glass Sky Walk.
