To drive Thailand toward becoming Thailand Medical Hub, it relies on readiness in terms of the number of physicians and medical personnel. In 2021, it was found that Thailand had 38,820 physicians or 1 physician for every 1,680 people. The Ministry of Public Health aims to increase the number of physicians in Thailand and reduce the ratio of physician to inhabitant to 1 physician for every 1,250 people. Therefore, the Ministry of Public Health has considered allowing the private sector to take part in the production of leading medical personnel both at the under graduate/post graduate levels by setting up guidelines as follows.
1. Determine instruction model through the collaboration between the public and private sectors in the form of affiliates and determine the pairing of services between the public and private sectors to create a pilot model;
2. Invite experts from other countries to teach in the clinical courses of hospitals in the Special Economic Zone (ECC);
3. Issue the temporary licenses to professionals in the Special Economic Zone (ECC);
4. Consider amending the health facilities to provide instruction in both lecture and practice specified in the Health Facility Act.
