Exploring Bang Kao Beach, Phetchaburi during Rainy Season

Most people advise against visiting the beach during the rainy season, as the rough waves and stormy weather could potentially ruin the trip and spoil the fun. However, there are still beach destinations that can be enjoyed during the rainy season, specifically from May to October, and they are not too far from Bangkok. One such place is the Gulf of Thailand.

Today, we will take you to Bang Kao Beach in Phetchaburi. Not only is this location famous for its breathtaking view, but it also provides an UNSEEN impression that you won't forget easily, especially the mesmerizing view of the sunset through a palm grove. The beautiful contrast of the golden evening sky against the water, accentuated by a line of palm trees, provides a serene and relaxing ambiance. This vista has been praised and acknowledged as one of the captivating attractions along the Cha-am coastline.

In addition to its beautiful views, visitors can also observe the lifestyle of the local fishermen. These hardworking locals start their day early, fishing and boating. This makes the area an excellent escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, providing a relaxing retreat immersed in unspoiled nature.

As for the history of Bang Kao Beach, the locals originally referred to it as Samor Kao Beach. It's believed that foreign merchant ships trading with Ayutthaya were forced to drop their anchors here when they encountered a storm, but they couldn't halt their ship and instead were dragged along by the wind. Hence, the local people named it "Samor Kao", which eventually changed to "Bang Kao".

Moreover, history recounts that this beach was a passage for King Naresuan the Great's army after they successfully conquered Dawei and Tanintharyi. Thus, the locals also call it Naresuan Beach.

For those interested in visiting, traveling to Bang Kao Beach is straightforward. The beach is located along the coastal road number 4028, between Khlong Khon and Cha-am, and is only about 13 kilometers from Cha-am Beach.
