Ko Klang community in Krabi Province is one of the communities in Krabi that has promoted community-based tourism. In addition, there is also a group of Hua Thong model boats. Here, they have modeled the Hua Thong boats into OTOP products that are famous in Krabi Province. In the past, Hua Thong boats were an essential vehicle of transportation for fishermen going out to catch fish on the seas. As time passed, Hua Thong boats remained crucial to the fishermen and were even more helpful as they transported tourists from the mainland to Ko Klang.
Another feature worth your notice is the Pate housewives production group. Here, you can learn the Pate fabric manufacturing process: start with a large piece of white cloth, make a pattern with wax, stretch it taut on the frame, and dye with vibrant colors on the intricate designs.
If you're not tired yet, you can have fun with clam picking or digging with the fishermen on Ko Klang, where you can learn how to search for and observe each type of clam with the locals. In addition, Ko Klang fishermen also have traditional wisdom in fishing that has been passed down from previous generations, especially in making “shallow bamboo stake traps,” which are hard for the fish to see.
When traveling to the Ko Klang community, you must take a longtail boat at Chao Fah Pier, Muang District, Krabi, to cross to Hin Pier.
