Creative Tourism: Planting Mangrove Trees (Sansai Ma Nam) in Ranong
Ranong has a nickname as a city of "eight rain and four sunshine," which means the weather is quite unpredictable. There are many beautiful natural tourist attractions as well as eco-activities for those who love nature. One of them is planting mangrove trees in the mangrove forest near “Sansai Ma Nam” (seahorse sand ridge) at Muang Kluang Subdistrict in Kaper District. It is a bent cape, shaped like a seahorse. The planting exercise is a highlight for the tourists, as they get to help plant trees and recover the mangrove forest at the same time.
A mangrove tree has big, strong roots; when it's time for the trees to shed their pods for breeding, the pods fall onto the ground, and then the cycle begins, leading to the fertile ecosystem of the mangrove forests.
There isn't only one activity in the Muang Kluang Community. Others include sightseeing cruises around Kaper Bay and Ranong Lake, visiting the old community, watching buffalos in the lake on Lam Son Island, trying wet rafting, swimming in the split sea at Sanlang Pingkue, and watching the floating baskets containing soft-shell crabs.
