Countries that are exempted from obtaining a visa to enter Thailand, according to agreements, and whose citizens are allowed to stay in Thailand for up to 14 and 30 days
Most foreigners who wish to enter Thailand must make a request for passport inspection and stamping or must apply for a visa from either the Royal Thai Embassy or the Consulate General of Thailand located in their country of residence. Alternatively, they may seek assistance from the Royal Thai Embassy assigned to oversee the country of the foreigner's residence.
However, citizens of certain countries are exempted from inspection and stamping, and are allowed to stay in Thailand for tourism purposes for a period not to exceed 30 days. The following countries are subject to Thailand's unilateral measures:
The countries and economies that have an agreement with Thailand (with a maximum stay of 30 days) are as follows: Cambodia, Myanmar (only for international airports), Hong Kong**, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Russia, and Vietnam**.
The countries that have an agreement with Thailand (with a maximum stay of 90 days) are the following: Argentina, Brazil*, Chile, South Korea*, and Peru*.
* Brazil, Peru, and South Korea are exempted from having to obtain a visa stamp for tourism purposes, and their stay is limited to 30 days. However, all three countries have an agreement with Thailand to exempt holders of diplomatic, official, and ordinary passports from having to obtain a visa stamp, which would allow them to stay for up to 90 days in Thailand without having to go through the visa stamping process.
** Hong Kong and Vietnamese citizens are exempted from having to obtain a visa stamp for tourism purposes, and their stay in Thailand is limited to 30 days. At the same time, there is an agreement with Thailand to exempt holders of diplomatic, official, and ordinary passports from having to obtain a visa stamp, which would allow them to stay in Thailand for up to 30 days without having to go through the visa stamping process.
