Issuance of temporary border passes through the e-Border Pass system on the sides of Myanmar and Laos 

     For those who are planning to travel to our neighbouring countries of Myanmar or Laos but are still confused about the border crossing process, about whether a visa is required or about what procedures need to be done, we have information to share with you today.

For Thai nationals, who wish to cross the border to Myanmar or Laos, the following documents must be prepared:

     1. One original national identification card
     2. A fee of 30 baht

Thai nationals who wish to cross the border to Myanmar or Laos must prepare the following documents:

Qualifications for those eligible to apply for a temporary border pass

     The person must be a Thai national residing outside the border area. Should there be a child who needs to travel with a pass holder, that child must be under 12 years of age.

     Applicants may submit their applications in person at the Border Pass Office or may apply for a border pass electronically online through https://bpsportal.dopa.go.th/. After registering and receiving a QR code, barcode, and a code, the applicant must present these to the officers at the Border Pass Office on the scheduled day in order to receive the border pass or temporary border pass.

Length of processing time

1. The normal processing time for electronic border passport issuance (for cases in which the application is submitted in person at the border passport office) is approximately 5 minutes (excluding waiting time);
2. The processing time for online electronic border passport issuance is 90 seconds (excluding waiting time).
