Inspection of foreign nationals using border passes at the Thailand-Myanmar border crossing
When traveling in and out of Thailand, foreign nationals residing in Myanmar or Thai citizens who wish to travel to Myanmar must have a border pass to present to the border officials. There are two types of border passes between Thailand and Myanmar:
1. Border Pass: This type of pass is for individuals who reside in border areas, and is valid for up to 2 years with the possibility of renewal for another 2 years;
2. Temporary Border Pass: This pass is for individuals who do not reside in border areas, and is valid only for a single entry.
Inspection steps

Myanmar citizens are allowed to cross the border into Kanchanaburi Province at both checkpoints and are subject to the following conditions:
Documents required to cross the border
1. Passport;
2. Border pass
2.1 A Thai border pass is for Thai citizens registered in the municipality of Muang District, Kanchanaburi Province. The pass is valid up to 2 years, and the pass holder is allowed to reside in Myanmar for no more than 14 days from the date of entry;
2.2 Myanmar border pass: The holder is allowed to reside in Thailand for no more than 14 days from the date of entry, valid for travel up to the Muang District of Kanchanaburi Province.
3. Temporary border pass
3.1 A Temporary Thai border pass is for Thai citizens registered in other districts of Kanchanaburi Province and for citizens from other provinces. It is valid for one-time use and allows for residency in Myanmar for no more than 7 days from the date of entry;
3.2 Temporary Myanmar border pass: The holder is allowed to reside in Thailand for no more than 7 days from the date of entry, valid for travel up to the Muang District of Kanchanaburi Province.
