Foreigners staying in Thailand who are assigned by a foreign government, with the Thai Government’s approval, to perform their duties or missions in the Kingdom of Thailand, may apply to extend their stay when the permit period of their visa has expired. They must apply for a visa extension under Section 15 of the Immigration Act 1979 (diplomat, official), with the following requirements:
- They must hold a diplomatic passport or official/ service/ special passport or United Nations laissez-passer, or hold an ordinary passport with a non-immigrant visa for the performance of official duties, or be exempt from a visa under agreements made by that country with the Thai government;
- They must be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or from government agencies at the department level or equivalent.
Required documents
- TM.7 form;
- Copy of passport;
- Certificate from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or from a government agency at the department level or equivalent.
