Get to know the MRT Yellow Line

The MRT Yellow Line Project, Lat Phrao - Samrong Section, is a “straddle” monorail with an elevated structure along the route. The purpose is to connect travel between the Blue Line at Ratchada - Lat Phrao Station with four mass transit systems: the Gray Line (Lat Phrao 71 Station), the Orange Line at the Lamsalee Intersection (Yaek Lamsalee Station), the Airport Rail Link at the Rama IX intersection (Hua Mak Station), and the Green Line, between Bearing and Samut Prakan, ending at Samrong Station. (Extensions are also in the works.)

The route is as follows:

  • It starts at the MRT Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line (Blue Line, first phase) at Ratchada-Lat Phrao intersection, runs straight along LatPhrao Road, and connects to the MRT Gray Line at Chalong Rat intersection.
  • It heads across the Chalong Rat Tollway to the Bang Kapi intersection, turns right to the south along Srinakarin Road, and connects to the Orange Line at the Lamsalee intersection.
  • Subsequently, it runs across the Rama IX intersection and connects to the Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link’s Hua Mak Station.
  • It heads through Phatthanakan Intersection, Si Nut Intersection, Si Udom Suk Intersection, Wat Si Iam Intersection, reaches Sri Thepha Intersection, turns right again along Thepharak Road, passes through the Green Line, Bearing - Samut Prakan at Samrong station, and ends at Poo Chao Saming Phrai Road.

The MRT Yellow Line Project, Lat Phrao - Samrong Section, has a total distance of approximately 30.4 kilometers and consists of 23 stations.

The original fares were set at the rate of 14-42 baht, the same as that for the Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line, but because the Fares Subcommittee will consider a new rate based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the fares will probably be 15-45 baht.

However, the new fare setting will be reviewed about 30 days before the full service.
The overall project progress as of December 2022 was 98.09%, divided into civil work progress at 98.05% and electric train system progress at 98.14%.
