The MRT Pink Line and Yellow Line will be ready for service in the middle of 2023

        When discussing the development of the transportation system by providing electric train services in Bangkok and its surrounding areas, different colors are used to tell the service routes apart. At present, seven colors have been opened on 11 routes, for the BTS Skytrain, the MRT subway, and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT): 

• Green Line (BTS) (Sukhumvit route, Silom route, and extension from Mo Chit - Saphan Mai - Khu Khot / Bearing - Samut Prakan);
• Gold Line (BTS) (Krung Thon Buri - Khlong San);
• Blue Line (MRT) (Hua Lamphong - Bang Sue, Bang Sue - Tha Phra, and Hua Lamphong - Bang Khae routes);
• Purple Line (MRT) (Khlong Bang Phai - Tao Poon);
• Dark Red Line (SRT) (Bang Sue - Rangsit);
• Light Red Line (SRT) (Bang Sue - Taling Chan).

        In the middle of this year, the MRT will open two more routes, namely the Pink Line, Khae Rai - Min Buri section, and the Yellow Line, Lat Phrao - Samrong section.

        The civil work on the MRT Pink Line Project, Min Buri - Khae Rai Section, has progressed at 94.43%; the electric train system has progressed at 94.49%; and the total progress is 94.48%, with the project expected to be completed in 2023.

        The civil work progress for the Si Rat Station - Muang Thong Thani station extension is 13.45%; the electric train system is 4.59%; and the total progress is 10.48%, with completion expected in 2025.

        The progress of civil works on the MRT Yellow Line Project, Lat Phrao - Samrong Section is 98.05%; the progress of the electric train system is 98.14%; and the overall progress is 98.09%.

        The Mass Rapid Transit Authority plans to start operating the MRT Yellow Line between Lat Phrao and Samrong in June 2023, with 29 trains out of a total of 30 trains delivered.

        The MRT Pink Line, Min Buri-Khae Rai section, is scheduled to begin service in August 2023, with 29 trains out of a total of 42 received.

        In December 2022, various groups of people, namely educational institutions, agencies, and some others, were given the chance to try out the service. Except for Nopparat Station and the National Telecommunications Station, part of the lines will be open to the public for free during the trial run of the Yellow Line, from Samrong Station to Phawana Station, and the Pink Line, from Min Buri Station to the Government Complex Station.

        The fares for both lines will range from 15 to 45 baht, but they will be revised about 30 days before they are fully operational to be in line with the actual consumer index at the time.

        In December 2022, various groups of people, namely educational institutions, agencies, and some others, were given the chance to try out the service.
