When the alien certificate for a foreigner residing in Thailand expires and they wish to renew it, they must prepare the following documents: the alien certificate (the original document), the receipt, and a TM.8 application form.
The officer will examine the evidence of payment of fees in the past year and record the receipt in the application form, the stub, and the certificate in accordance with the form which is officially specified. Regarding the fee receipt, the blue version is given to the foreigner to keep; the pink one is sent to Sub-Division 1, Immigration Division 1; and the white one is a copy attached to the receipt book, and then the fee will be sent to the financial agency in accordance with the regulations.
The issuance of an alien certificate or its renewal will be subject to a fee at the rate prescribed in the Ministerial Regulations, but not exceeding four hundred baht per year.
A foreigner who wishes to renew the alien certificate must submit a renewal application form within 7 days from the expiration date; otherwise, a fine must be paid according to Alien Registration Act No. 2 (B.E. 2495), Section 4, and the fee for failure of renewal application shall be charged according to the Ministerial Regulation No. 4 (B.E. 2498), Clause 10a, as well as the retrospective fee for the year of failure of renewal application, before processing the renewal.
