Application for change of type of visa, for retirement purposes (50 years old, Non-immigrant O)

         To apply for change of type of visa for retirement purposes – 50 years old or older (Non-immigrant O) – the foreigner must submit documents for applying for changing the type of visa, which will allow no more than 90 days. The foreigner must hold a visa with a validity of more than 15 days. In case of overstay, the application is not allowed. 

Required documents are as follows:

1. TM.86 Form, only for foreigners with Tourist Visa or Transit Visa, to change the type of visa, or TM.87 Form, for the foreigner who enters Thailand without visa, but is allowed to stay in the kingdom with a permit of stay for a period of 30 days, 90 days and wish to apply for non-immigrant visa;

2. Copy of passport pages (personal information, last entry stamps, extension stamp (if any)) and departure card (TM.6 Form); 

3. One photograph, size 4x6 cm or 2 inches;

4. Application fee of 2,000 baht;

5. Passbook and certificate of balance from a bank in Thailand in Thai language (to the Commander of the Immigration Office), copies of all pages of a fixed deposit or savings account with at least 800,000 baht in the account (specify the name of the applicant), proof of foreign currency transfer into Thailand (all documents must bear the name of the applicant, dated and adjusted to the same date as the date of submission of the application);

6. Certificate from the embassy or consulate of the foreigner in Thailand or abroad to show that the foreigner is a pensioner with a pension of not less than 65,000 baht per month (with evidence referencing the source of such income);

7. Proof of deposits under item 5 and of income under item 6 (1 year) in the amount of not less than 800,000 baht;

8. House rental agreement, condominium unit purchase agreement and house registration, house map and house rent receipts of the past three months.

Important notes

1. The applicant must process the application in person.
2. The applicant must have a residential notification according to Section 38.
3. The applicant must sign every page of the documents, to certify them.
4. For a quick and convenient process, please bring complete documents and submit all original documents to the competent official.
