Foreigners who lose their passports while in Thailand must report the lost passport at a local police station before submitting a request to their embassy to get a new passport.
Supporting documents for making a request to the embassy are (a) a copy of the notification from the police station, and (b) a copy of previous passport with personal information and photo (if any). When the new passport is received, the foreigner will need a letter from the embassy to the Immigration Bureau to request cooperation from the Immigration Bureau to provide a new arrival stamp on the new passport of the foreigner.
Procedure for getting a new arrival stamp in the new passport:
- Contact the staff at the counter service of the Change Passport Book Department, Sub-Division 2, Immigration Division 1 to submit a request, and fill in details, such as name, surname, passport number, date/month/year entering into the Kingdom, and arrival flight number.
- The officials check the details and accuracy of the request and check the integrity of the new passport or travel documents. The notification of grievance must be submitted.
- The officials check the evidence of traveling into the Kingdom.
- When the entry information into the Kingdom is found, the officials proceed with placing the arrival stamp in the passport for the foreigner.
- If the foreigner requests to stay in the Kingdom or has a residence in the Kingdom, they should meet the officials at the department related to the visa, or Division 1, Immigration Division 1.
