Expansion of Collaboration Between Thai FDA and Japan's PMDA Aims to Establish Thailand as a Medical Hub

Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is collaborating with the PMDA Asia Office from Japan and ASEAN member countries to exchange information and strengthen the regulatory capacity in Asia. The goal is to ensure access to safe, effective, and internationally standardized medical products.

Dr. Narong Apikulvanich, Secretary-General of the Thai FDA, and his executive team held discussions with H.E. Prof. TAKEMI Keizo, Minister of Health, Labour, and Welfare of Japan, during the International Symposium to promote regulatory collaboration in ASEAN. The focus was on communication and integration through the newly established PMDA office in Bangkok, which aims to elevate clinical trial standards and develop medical innovations, including experimental drugs and medical devices. PMDA plays a crucial role as a global leader in pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and the new office in Bangkok demonstrates a shared commitment to enhancing healthcare capabilities in the Asia region.

This collaboration will strengthen the capacities of the Thai FDA and regulatory agencies across ASEAN, creating opportunities for Thailand to become a hub for clinical trials and medical innovation development, thereby positioning the country as a global Medical Hub.
