FDA Supports Thai Entrepreneurs to Enter the Plant-Based Protein Market

Good news for Thai food entrepreneurs! The FDA is fully supporting the production of plant-based protein foods, aiming to establish Thailand as a global production base in the rapidly growing alternative protein industry.

A team from the Food and Drug Administration, led by Pharmacist Lertchai Lertwut, Deputy Secretary-General of the FDA, visited Plant and Bean (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a plant-based protein food manufacturing facility, to support their expansion of production and export capacity. The company plans to increase its production to 25,000 tons in the future, focusing on using domestic raw materials such as soybeans, peas, and new ingredients like mushrooms and young jackfruit. This will help reduce reliance on imported raw materials and lower production costs.

The FDA is ready to provide support in all aspects, including academic consultations, regulatory guidance, and facilitating the approval process, to prepare Thailand to become a potential food hub in the global plant-based protein market in the future!
