Panasonic and Chulalongkorn University Collaborate to Develop Home IoT for Modern Living Solutions

In the modern era, choosing a residence must address both comfort and energy efficiency. The Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University and Panasonic Solutions (Thailand) Co., Ltd. have collaborated to develop a Home IoT (Internet of Things) system that utilizes technology to control living conditions and enchance energy savings in homes. A Zen Model has been created to test the generation of a comfortable atmosphere within the home. Additionally, experiments have been conducted in a sample house at the Sena Grand Home project, in collaboration with Sena Development Public Company Limited and Hankyu Hanshin Properties Corporation.

This experiment began with the hypothesis that setting the air conditioning to 25 degrees Celsius may not be the best way to save energy or provide optimal comfort for residents. The team tested and analyzed the comfort conditions for Thai people (PMV) by controlling temperature and environmental conditions within the home using IoT technology, which helps create a balance according to residents' needs while simultaneously reducing energy consumption.

This project represents a significant step in developing residential technology that not only helps Thai people live in greater comfort but also meets the demands for energy savings and long-term environmental conservation.
