A Major Step Towards a Drug-Free Thai Society! The Cabinet Enforces Strict Laws

The Cabinet has approved amendments to the laws concerning the possession of narcotic drugs, especially methamphetamine (yaba) and crystal methamphetamine (ice), to disrupt the spread of drugs in Thai society. The new regulations stipulate that the possession of no more than one tablet of yaba, or no more than 100 mg, and no more than one tablet or 100 mg of methamphetamine (ice), or no more than 20 mg if in powder or crystal form, will be considered possession for personal use only.

This amendment will provide clear guidelines for the police and the courts, outlining their roles in handling cases. It will focus on directing users to undergo rehabilitation instead of facing severe punishment, thereby reducing the number of small-scale dealers and effectively cutting off the drug distribution network.

Thai society takes another step forward in the fight against drugs. This law will help create a safer and more sustainable society for everyone.
