For centuries, the Thai people have practiced the martial art of Muay Thai, which has its own unique culture and way of life. It has gained notoriety and become well-known all over the world by employing wai khru and Muay Thai techniques.
As one of Thailand's “soft powers,” it is not uncommon for visitors from other countries to come to the country with the express purpose of learning Muay Thai.
If you’re a fan of Muay Thai, you won't want to miss the “Amazing Muaythai Festival 2023,” which will be held from 4 to 6 February 2023, in Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, at the Rajabhakti Park and Hua Hin Sea Recreation Center. In addition to the WBC Muay Thai World Championship, beach workouts with Muay Thai Stars, and international Muay Thai competitions, the evening of 6 February at Rajabhakti Park will feature Wai Khru Muay Thai performances and Muay Thai demonstrations with the largest number of people in the world, more than 5,000 people, in an attempt to set a Guinness world record.
Additionally, “Thai Boxing Day” is celebrated annually on 6 February to honor King Sanphet VIII, also known as King Suea in the Ayutthaya period, who ascended to the throne that day in 1703. His Majesty was so skilled at Muay Thai that he came up with the Mae Mai Muay Thai postures and used it as a basis for a Muay Thai textbook that is still used today.
