A Retirement Visa – or Non-Immigrant Visa "O-A" (Long Stay) – can be issued to qualified applicants aged 50 years or older and wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not more than 1 year.
The six principal qualifications are as follows: (a) being over 50 years of age (on the date of submission of the request), (b) not being a person prohibited from entering the Kingdom, (c) not having a history that poses a threat to security, and (d) having nationality or permanent residence in the country in which they submitted the request. Once these qualifications are met, the applicant should prepare documents according to the regulations of the government.
As for places to apply for a retirement visa, applications can be made at the Thai embassy or consulate-general in the country where the foreigner has nationality or in the country of residence, along with a processing fee of 5,000 baht.
