Requirements for purchasing health insurance abroad in order to apply for a retirement visa

A retirement visa is a visa that allows foreigners to stay in Thailand for 1 year, provided they are over 50 years old and intend to spend the rest of their life in Thailand (Non-Immigrant O Long-Stay Visa).

The issue of health insurance is considered a matter that affects people’s quality of life, especially the elderly, who are at risk of having health problems during their stay in Thailand; therefore, retirement visas require the purchase of health insurance. But besides purchasing Thai health insurance, visa applicants can also purchase foreign health insurance for a retirement visa.
