Characteristics of Thailand's Summer in 2023

The summer of 2023 in Thailand starts in early March and ends in mid-May. The weather is generally hot and very hot in many areas, especially from mid-March to late April. Alternately, there will be occasional thunderstorms in many places, which will help bring down the heat. The average maximum temperature in upper Thailand is 35.5 degrees Celsius, close to normal, which is 35.4 degrees Celsius, but higher than last summer (2022), at an average maximum temperature of 34.0 degrees Celsius, and the average total rainfall is close to normal.

Summer storms occur yearly in many areas, so beware of thunderstorms, high winds, and hail. Unfortunately, some of these conditions can cause loss of life, property, and agricultural productivity.

In addition, if rainfall is insufficient to meet the needs of many consumer and agricultural areas, especially in areas where drought is repeated outside the irrigation zone, people should make the most of their water savings and prepare to prevent problems.

Cautions

Fire and wildfires occur during the summer, as the weather creates favorable conditions for fire and wildfires. Therefore, people should be careful with the fuel used for various activities.

Cyclones from the end of April to May can cause low pressure in the Andaman Sea, which can strengthen into a depression and a cyclone. They move to the north rather than the east and may approach the west of Thailand, which causes the western parts of both the north and central regions, including the south, to have a lot of rain. The storms can cause flooding and flash floods, too..
