Characteristics of summer in southwestern Thailand in 2023

Winter and summer are the best seasons for tourism in Thailand. The most popular time to visit is November-April, primarily because there is less rain during the cool season and hot season. But since Thailand is a country with exciting events and festivals or traditions throughout the year, various natural attractions can be discovered throughout the year. Tourists can choose the time of year according to their preferences and convenience.

This year, Thailand officially entered the summer on 5 March 2023, which is expected to end around mid-May.

For those who want to travel to Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun, which are in southwest Thailand, during the summer season from the end of February to the end of April, there will be some hot weather in some areas. The maximum temperature is 37-38° C over 30-40 percent of the area and some heavy rain. The waves in the Andaman Sea will be about 1 meter high, and more rain. In particular, there will be thunderstorms in 60-80 percent of the area and some heavy rain, and the waves in the Andaman Sea will be stronger, about 2-3 meters high at some points.

Cautions: Low pressure may form in the Andaman Sea from the end of April to May, which could strengthen into depressions and cyclones. In addition, the northward movement will tend somewhat eastward, which can lead to increased rainfall in the southwest. This can lead to flooding in general and flash flooding in forests.
