What are the steps in the event that a foreign worker enters Thailand and wants to apply for a work visa change?

       Foreigners who have entered Thailand but wish to change their visa to work in Thailand must submit an application to change their existing visa to a  Non-Immigrant Visa “B,” which is a visa used for contract or business and work. The first visa application will be valid for 90 days. If they want a one-year work visa, they must have a work permit before they can extend the one-year visa. 

Supporting documents for applying for a change of visa:

- Request form for change of type of visa (TM.86), or Request form for obtaining a visa (TM.87);

- Copy of passport;

- Six 2-inch photographs;

- Fee = 2,000 baht;

- Letter from the prospective employer explaining the necessity to hire a foreigner and asking for cooperation in obtaining the visa or requesting to change the type of visa;

- Employment certificate;

- Copy of juristic person registration certificate  and a copy of the list of shareholders;

- A copy of the registration certificate of the juristic person;

- A copy of VAT registration certificate, PP 09, PP 20, and a copy of the Memorandum of Association of the capital increase;

- A copy of the latest year's profit and loss account balance sheet;

- Copy of corporate income tax;

- Copy of applicant’s transcript;

- Copy of ordinary corporate income tax of Thai employees;

- Company picture;

- Company map. If the company is promoted by BOI, please present a request for cooperation from the Office of Investment, etc. In this regard, the applicant for a visa to work in Thailand must have the knowledge and ability to perform the requested work, must not be a person of unsound mind, must not suffer from contagious diseases that appear disgusting to society, and must not have been convicted of an offense under the laws on immigration.
