Business opportunities: Long-travel lifestyle

      Tourists who tend to take longer trips than average do not make up a high percentage, but it's interesting that most of them are in the LGBTQIA+ group, couples, high-income earners, retirees, and professional groups that are able to stay on the road for longer than average, such as freelancers.

      Long-travel tourists are interested in major tourist attractions, city tours, and cultural tourism, getting involved with a variety of activities, including outdoor adventures, concerts, spas, and exercises, and they also choose to stay mainly in 4-5 star hotels.

Let's have a look at some LGBTQIA+ travel styles.

  • Most trips focus on short trips with friends or traveling as couples, with around 32% traveling with friends and 28% as couples. Most of them focus on short trips, traveling for only 2-3 days but they travel often, while the solo traveler is another group that is in focus, with a proportion of about 26%, and 40% will arrange longer trips of more than four days;
  • Convenience in transportation, chic accommodation, and free special deals: These are three factors affecting the choice of destinations, considering stylish accommodation, promotional discount, and a collection of cool cafés; these are features that LGBTQIA+ people are more interested in than tourists in general, especially the younger generation. In addition, LGBTQIA+ people expect more satisfaction with the safety and hygiene standards in tourism than tourists overall, as well;
  • Relax your body, rest your mind, recharge yourself and go for a delicious meal, things that over 80% of travelers want when they travel for leisure. They also focus on chilling in cafés, exploring delicious restaurants, and combining leisure and work more than other tourists. If they go on a trip with a group of friends, about 56% will be on trips with a very spiritual group, going to special places that will bring them good fortune, while the independent group likes to travel alone, interested in cultural tourism and access to the local way of life;
  • Cool accommodation for LGBTQIA+ must be close to nature with modern facilities; more than 44% of the respondents highlighted modern gadgets and around 40% highlighted the décor of their accommodations, especially when traveling as a couple; however, the vast majority of people on solo and family trips will look for accommodation close to shopping or the city center for easy access, and more than 40% of LGBTQIA+ residents prefer to stay in 4-5 star hotels; 74% will book their accommodation through an online travel provider.
