Target products for the development of the BCG model in energy, materials, and biochemicals

           The BCG Model is a model for Thailand’s economic development focusing on existing strengths, such as agricultural products and biodiversity in terms of ecosystems and species. “The development of the energy, materials, and biochemicals industry” becomes an important mission for creating the market opportunities and connecting Thai products to the world’s value chain. The target products are determined by considering products that would be in high demand. This is in order to improve the competitiveness of Thai entrepreneurs and their ability to support a large number of agricultural products. This will contribute to income distribution and solving the country’s environmental problems. The target products for development are as follows:

           1.  Renewable energy such as electricity from solar energy, waste, biomass and biogas;

           2.  Biofuels include ethanol such as E20, biodiesel such as B10, bio jet (BHD), and ethanol fuel cell EV and ethanol hydrogen fuel;

           3.  Industrial and new pharmaceutical ethanol for applications in the medical, cosmetic, and food industries;

           4.  Bioplastics such as PLA (polylactic acid), PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate), PBS (polybutylene succinate), and PHAs (polyhydroxyalkanoates);

           5.  Oleochemical products from the further development of palm oil, including by-products such as glycerol;

           6.  Biochemicals for safe agriculture, such as agricultural biochemicals;

           7.  Cosmetic ingredients: fragrance compounds, bio-surfactant, bio-solvent, antioxidants, and specialty enzymes;

           8.  Microorganisms with unique properties, such as synthetic biology.
