Development of tourist attractions and businesses to meet BCG model standards

       To develop the BCG driving mechanism in the field of tourism – using the concept of building a pyramid to build a strong foundation for the sustainability of the tourism industry – the first priority is "standardize” by elevating tourism standards throughout the industry chain, including tourism activities, entrepreneurs, labor, and tourist attractions, to build confidence and value for tourists by taking into account “safety of life and property quality of service and environmental responsibility.” Emphasis is on the extension of three main standards:

  1) Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration (SHA) Standards;

  2) Thailand Tourism Standard (TTS);

  3) Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC) Standards.

       In the first year, it will focus on improving and designing the infrastructure to be suitable and safe for everyone (“universal design”), plan waste management with local participation, and accelerate support for entrepreneurs to obtain SHA standards. Unregistered but qualified accommodation operators will be able enter the registration system faster, and there will be training to help the workforce in the tourism sector acquire necessary new skills. During the three-year and five-year phases, it will manage infrastructure to suit the number of tourists, focus on law enforcement, and support entrepreneurs to receive TTS and GSTC standards, among other goals.
