Historical Tourism at Wat Pha Rang Mhee Wanaram in Phitsanulok Province

For those who enjoy historical tourism, we would like to introduce you to another community whose lifestyle and culture are unique. The village is surrounded by rice fields, limestone mountains and hills; that village is Ban Pha Rang Mhee, located in Sai Yoy Subdistrict, Noen Maprang District in Phitsanulok Province.

The interesting historical locations here are Wat Pha Rang Mhee Wanaram and the cave where the reclining Buddha image of Phet Munee the Monk is located; the temple and cave are also popular as meditation sites. They are very well respected and important to the villagers. There are two highlights at this temple:

     1. Wat Pha Rang Mhee Cave – a sacred cave that is highly respected by the villagers of Ban Pha Rang Mhee. Inside, there is a reclining Buddha image of Phet Munee the Monk, which was built in B.E. 2517 (1974 C.E.) It is a good idea to come and pay respect to the image once you visit this place. There are bats inside the cave for you to see, as well.

     2. “Stairway to Heaven,” which leads to Luang Po Som Dej Oak Pra Tom; it is also a scenic viewpoint of the village which takes only a 5-10 minute walk. The view of the rice fields around the village surrounded by the limestone mountains and hills is definitely worth it. Don't miss it!
