Phuket: A Popular Destination for Chinese Tourists

Chinese tourists are currently the most popular tourists in Thailand. In 2016, Chinese tourists outnumbered those from Russia, Australia, Germany, and England, with close to 2,538,000 visitors.

The busiest time for Chinese tourists is Chinese New Year. Many reservations are made far in advance because the Chinese New Year in Phuket is celebrated as a grand event in collaboration with the public and private sectors, which is a unique feature that helps attract Chinese tourists, as well as the natural tourist attractions, such as beautiful beaches – Patong Beach, Kata Beach, Karon Beach – and a chance to watch the sunset at Promthep Cape. The majority of them are groups that enjoy various sea-related activities, such as scuba diving and snorkeling, along with eating local seafood, admiring beautiful architecture, taking photographs at various corners in Old Phuket Town, and walking in the romantic lights at night.

This year, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has prepared delectable dishes such as lobster dishes and Phuket pineapples to welcome Chinese visitors during the upcoming Chinese New Year.
