Airbnb reports that Chinese tourists’ top destination is Thailand

Tourists are planning to travel abroad again now that many countries have taken steps to ease the COVID-19 situation. “After more than two years of travel restrictions, demand for overseas travel from Chinese travelers has reached a record high,” Amanpreet Bajaj, Airbnb’s general manager for Southeast Asia, India, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, said. It’s no wonder that Chinese tourists put Thailand at the top of their travel wish lists, given the country’s widespread appeal.

According to Chinese travelers’ Airbnb search results report on 27 December 2022, Thailand ranked first as the most searched destination by Chinese within 24 hours of the Chinese government’s announcement on 26 December that Thailand had lifted the quarantine measures for incoming travelers. Travelers from China continue to flock to Thailand’s most famous cities and beaches, including Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Pattaya. As a result, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Thailand is the number one travel destination of choice for Chinese tourists.
