The agricultural sector is one of Thailand’s strategic components, so its development needs to be accelerated and made stronger, as agriculture is not just an activity aimed at producing food for the country's food security, but it also affects energy security, biodiversity preservation, carbon management, and job creation. For these reasons, it has become a branch of the BCG model.
Opportunities to develop Thailand's agricultural sector with the BCG model arise partly from the fact that Thailand is a regional trading center; its main advantages are that it has great biological diversity, and it is located in the southeast and northeast monsoon zones, in the middle of the ASEAN region. It also has an infrastructure system conducive to both land and air transportation, plus major sea ports, as well as a large number of qualified professionals with expertise in logistics. Thailand, therefore, has the potential to become a regional trading center and a leader in the production of agricultural products.
