Thailand Ready to Tackle PM2.5 Issues Under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Framework

Thailand is pushing for international cooperation in the Mekong River Basin region to address air pollution (PM2.5) under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) framework, which is a key issue that the Thai government aims to achieve with tangible results. The recent meeting held under the MLC framework in Chiang Mai was co-chaired by Mr. Maris Seangphong, Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, along with foreign ministers from member countries in the region, including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.

Progress and Initiatives by Thailand within the MLC Framework Thailand has proposed a plan to address PM2.5 and various environmental issues through regional cooperation, focusing on reducing air pollution, managing water resources, and combating cross-border crime. The meeting also emphasized the importance of endorsing significant documents, such as the draft declaration on clean air in the Mekong-Lancang region, which will lead to real actions to improve air quality in the region.
