It's Official! Disaster Warning SMS Alerts Begin

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), in collaboration with related agencies, has developed a mobile phone alert system called SMS Alert. This system enables people in flood-prone or disaster-risk areas to receive warning information quickly, reducing potential losses.

The DDPM will send SMS alerts based on risk levels of 3 or higher, as follows:

  • Level 3 (Yellow): Be prepared and follow the instructions of relevant authorities, including preparing vulnerable groups for evacuation.
  • Level 4 (Orange): Evacuate according to the advice of authorities, evacuate vulnerable groups, and move belongings to higher ground.
  • Level 5 (Red): Immediate evacuation is required. Follow orders to ensure safety.

Warnings will be sent 12-24 hours in advance, with emergency alerts issued 6-12 hours ahead, allowing sufficient time for preparation. The alerts include critical information such as date, time, location, and safety measures, ensuring the public receives accurate and reliable information.
