Unlocking Potential in Secondary Cities New Standards for Regional Airports Phitsanulok and Krabi Open Doors to Trade and Tourism

Good news for the people of Thailand! Phitsanulok and Krabi airports have just received official international standard certification from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT). They are the fourth and fifth airports under the Department of Airports to pass rigorous inspections covering everything from physical infrastructure to operational manuals to security plans.

This certification is not just a seal of approval—it’s a “golden key” unlocking the potential of secondary cities! It boosts confidence among tourists and airlines alike, positioning both airports as “regional aviation hubs” that connect local economies to the international stage.

  • Phitsanulok: Gateway to northern and central Thailand, advancing industry and cultural heritage.
  • Krabi: Strengthening the Andaman tourism corridor and attracting direct international flights.

The Department of Airports is also fast-tracking development of Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport as the next facility to meet these standards, while expanding its network to 19 airports nationwide by 2026.

This new benchmark is just the beginning of fresh opportunities! With regional airports meeting national quality standards, travel becomes easier, intercity trade grows, and tourism flourishes. Thailand is stepping into a new era where every province becomes a destination the world watches closely.
