Safety Comes First! 6 Guidelines for Taking Students Outside School According to the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education announced the “6 Guidelines for Taking Students Outside School” on October 15th to enhance the safety of students and teachers.
It empowers the provincial private education office directors to assess and grant permission, allowing them to suspend or stop activities if risks or dangers are identified.

1. Vehicle Condition Check: Ensure that the vehicle and its equipment are in good and safe condition by coordinating with the Department of Land Transport for checks before departure to prevent possible accidents.
2. Parents Accompanying: For students below grade 4, parents should accompany them to enhance safety and provide close supervision.
3. Location and Distance Consideration: Choose field trip locations that are close to the school or within the province first for convenience and safety.
4. Travel Insurance: Schools must arrange travel insurance for students, teachers, and related personnel to cover unexpected events.
5. Emergency Drill Training: Conduct emergency drill training for teachers and students to prepare for any emergencies.
6. Report Permission Assessment: Schools must report travel permission assessments to the legal authorities at least three working days before the trip.

Additionally, the Ministry of Education has studied field trip management practices in other countries, such as Japan, Europe, and America, to broaden the standards for learners.
