Boosting the Economy! Cabinet Approves 2-Year Extension of Hotel Fee Exemption from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026

Great news for the Thai hotel industry! The Cabinet has extended the fee exemption period, reducing the burden and creating growth opportunities.

The Thai government acknowledges and prioritizes the challenges faced by the hotel industry post-COVID-19. Consequently, the Cabinet has made a significant decision to extend the fee exemption for hotel businesses for another 2 years, from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026.

This measure reduces the financial burden on hotel operators by 40 Baht per room per year, enhancing their financial liquidity. It enables businesses to reinvest in service quality, create attractive promotions for tourists, and restore business strength.

Benefits of this measure include:

  • Reduced Operating Costs: Operators can use the savings to improve room quality, amenities, and other services to better meet customer needs.
  • Increased Competitiveness: Lower costs help Thai hotels compete more effectively with hotels in other countries.
  • Local Economic Stimulation: The recovery of the hotel industry will create jobs, generate income for communities, and stimulate local economies.
  • Attracting Investors: This supportive measure signals the government's commitment to the tourism sector, encouraging investors to invest in Thailand's hotel industry.
For businesses and investors in the tourism sector, this measure presents an excellent opportunity to expand businesses and achieve long-term profitability. The government is ready to support and facilitate operators at all levels, working together to drive the growth of Thailand's tourism sector to new heights and to develop the hotel industry for mutual prosperity.
