Travel and work: 'Workation Thailand – Just 100 Baht to Travel and Work'

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a campaign named "Workation Thailand – Just 100 Baht to Travel and Work", extending the government's policy of promoting remote work in order to stimulate domestic travel and encourage overnight stays during weekdays. It offers various tourism products and services at a price of only 100 Baht through the website workationthailand.com.

The Workation Thailand initiative began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to date, as the workation trend is a new tourism model that answers to the new-normal lifestyle of younger generations. This trend has shifted the work format from work-from-home to work-from-anywhere or "workation," enabling individuals to work, organize meetings, and socialize from any location. This concept has become popular among tourists worldwide, and both public and private sectors in Thailand have started to adopt it to enhance the work atmosphere and increase efficiency.

For this campaign, the TAT has partnered with various tourism industry stakeholders, such as the Association of Thai Travel Agents, Thai Tourism Business Association, Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association, and Domestic Travel Association, to promote marketing activities through the website https://workationthailand.com on the 6th of June, the 7th of July, the 8th of August, and the 9th of September. It offers vouchers for tourism products and services at a cost of only 100 Baht, which include accommodation, airlines, state-owned transport company services, restaurants, and tourism packages and activities like Safari World, Oasis Spa, and Sealife.

In addition, the campaign provides special privileges and discounts of up to 80% from leading businesses to help reduce travel expenses for tourists. It particularly targets digital nomads and remote workers who have the tendency to work while traveling and stay overnight, especially during weekdays. This support for the tourism industry operators leads to the stimulation of domestic travel and the overall tourism target for 2023.
