Foreign workers health insurance coverage benefits

       An announcement by the Ministry of Public Health established a policy that foreign workers must have health insurance and must pass a medical examination and take out health insurance to access medical care. The benefits and coverage of health insurance are as follows:

1. Medical treatment and general rehabilitation

  • Diagnosis, treatment, medical rehabilitation until the end of treatment, as well as alternative medicine certified by the Board of Practitioners of the Arts;
  • General dental services such as scaling, filling, tooth extraction, wisdom teeth removal;
  • Meals and beds for ordinary patients;
  • Drugs and medical supplies in the national list of essential drugs;
  • Normal childbirth or other methods of childbirth with medical indications.

2. Health promotion as follows:

  • Provision and use of personal health diaries for personal health care;
  • Health care by age group;
  • Examination and care to promote the health of pregnant women, as well as postpartum care services;
  • Family planning (consultation/ condoms/ pills/ injections/ implants/ sterilization);
  • Home visits and patient care at home;
  • Health awareness provided to individual and family service recipients through various media;
  • Counseling encouraged participating in health promotion;
  • Promoting health and preventing oral diseases, including oral health check-ups, advice on dental health, supplementation of fluoride in groups at risk of tooth decay;
  • Modifying health behavior;
  • Development of foreign worker volunteers to support health promotion, surveillance, prevention, and disease control;
  • Provide health promotion action and solve problems in the area, as the provincial or district committee deems appropriate;
  • Preventive vaccines included in the immunization plan of the Ministry of Public Health.
