Silicon Valley of Thailand, an incubator for young researchers

            When it comes to innovative cities, many people probably think of “Silicon Valley” in the United States, one of the most important production and innovation incubation centers in the world for the full range of work of the new generation.

            Thailand has “Wangchan Valley,” which is regarded as the Silicon Valley of Thailand, where the main goal is to elevate Thailand’s competitiveness in technology to meet international standards, develop the innovators, and push startups and organizations that want to jointly develop technology for mutual growth under the concept of Smart Natural Innovation Platform.

Wangchan Valley is divided into three main zones, which are systematically linked and support each other, as follows:

1.  Education and learning zone. Strong seedlings must be cultivated under a healthy and well-equipped environment. Therefore, a learning zone has been created in Wangchan Valley. This zone consists of Kamnoetvidya Science School (KVIS) and Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science (VISTEC), the production base for future scientists. It combines science and engineering to enable students to conduct in-depth research and generate new knowledge that is at the forefront of international research;

2. Innovation research and development zone. This zone is also the location of the EECi Innovation Group building of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), which is involved in the development of four innovative cities, namely Biopolis, Aripolis, Space Innopolis, and Food Innopolis. In addition, agencies from the government and companies in the PTT group, and other private sector companies also joined in the development of the zone;

3. Facilities zone. Residential and recreational areas are surrounded by sustainable green spaces, fitness centers, hotels, shopping centers, recreational facilities, and other facilities. The buildings are also designed using the universal design concept, taking into account the quality of living for all ages.
