Activities promoted by BOI under the BCG Model, Category 7 and Category 8

      The Office of the Board of Investment, or BOI, is promoting a new economic model called "BCG," the Bio-Circular-Green economy. Categories 7 and 8 pertain to the following promoted businesses:

Category 7:

1. Business of production of electricity or electricity and steam from waste or fuel from waste (refuse-derived fuel);

2. Business of production of electricity or electricity and steam from renewable energy, such as solar, wind, biomass, biogas, etc., except waste or fuel from waste;

3. Energy service companies (ESCO);

4. Biotechnology business consisting of the following:

- Research and development and/or seed production or breeding of plants, animals, and microorganisms using biotechnology;

- Research and development and/or biotechnology-based pharmaceutical manufacturing industry;

- Research and development and/or medical, agricultural, food, and environmental test kit manufacturing industries;

– Research and development and/or manufacturing industries using microbial cells, plant cells, or animal cells to produce biomolecules. and bioactive compounds;

- Manufacture of raw materials and/or essential materials used for research and development, experimentation, testing, quality control, and/or production of biological products;

- Biochemical analysis and/or synthesis services and/or quality control and/or verification.

5. Business of reusing unused materials;

6. Business of waste treatment or disposal.


Category 8:

1. Biotechnology development business.
