Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria and social and economic sustainability with community support

      Nowadays, tourists are more likely to travel to see community life because they want to experience the culture and learn about local customs. Therefore, in order to gain an understanding of sustainable tourism, a first step is to determine the conditions, roles, and responsibilities directly related to the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria. They have practical applications to social and economic sustainability, and they are geared toward supporting the community by carefully considering  the impact of tourism on the community and the welfare of the community.

           When it comes to community support criteria, tourist attractions should have a system that provides opportunities and encourages entrepreneurs, tourists, and the general public to contribute to the community and responsibly organize sustainable activities, with the following indicators:

  1. Local tourism operators are encouraged to support community and sustainability initiatives in their communities;
  2. Support and organize programs that involve tourists in helping local communities and environmental initiatives;
  3. Volunteering and community involvement must not involve trespassing or exploiting persons or property in the community.
