Community tourism charm – Historical attractions

      There are many different ethnic groups in Thailand, as well as stunning natural landscapes and fascinating historical tales. Numerous accounts of bygone eras were written down to tell the tales of the country’s past and culture to the next generation. 

      Sukhothai Historical Park, in Sukhothai Province, is just one of many historical tourist attractions in Thailand that is both regarded as historically significant and registered as a World Heritage Site. This site, along with nearby Si Satchanalai and Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park, was designated a World Heritage Site in 1991. It is regarded as a source of significant artistic works and culture, such as the creation of the Thai alphabet and an example of systematic city planning, and it is particularly famous for achievements in various fields of arts, such as beautiful ceramic pottery from Si Satchanalai. Sukhothai’s Buddhist sculptures are recognized as the pinnacle of beauty in Thai art, possessing a unique delicacy. 

      There are many large buildings within the park, including large ancient Buddha images and many ancient structures outside the city walls; there are 70 places, and 26 interesting places within the city walls, such as Wat Chana Songkhram, Wat Traphang Ngoen, Wat Si Sawai, Wat Si Chum, Phra Ruang Dam, and Prasat Phra Ruang Hill, among others. 

 

There are many other historical attractions around Thailand, some famous, some less so:: 

  • Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Historical Park, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province;
  • emple of the Emerald Buddha, or Wat Phra Kaew, Bangkok;
  • Phra Pathom Chedi, Nakhon Pathom Province;
  • Phimai Historical Park, Nakhon Ratchasima Province;
  • Phanom Rung Historical Park, Buriram Province;
  • Phanom Rung Historical Park, Buriram Province;
  • Muang Sing Historical Park, or Prasat Muang Sing, Kanchanaburi Province.


      Anyone interested in learning about and appreciating the splendor of ancient art should pick a destination that grabs their attention and plan a fascinating trip there.
