Nine train stations with automatic ticket vending machines

Nine train stations with automatic ticket vending machines

      Train travel in Thailand, in addition to taking people to destinations all across the country, is a money-saving way to travel, thanks to lower prices, when compared with traveling by other forms of public transport.

      Buying train tickets is now more convenient for those who will be traveling with suburban trains and ordinary trains, as the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has provided automatic ticket vending machines (TVM) for quick, safe, and contactless purchases of tickets, which is in line with passenger behavior and the COVID-19 situation, and they accept cash payments in both banknotes and coins.

      In the first phase, the State Railway of Thailand has opened ticket sales through automatic ticket vending machines for the following routes: Bangkok - Lop Buri / Kaeng Khoi / Nakhon Pathom / Suphan Buri, and Aranyaprathet.

Ten automatic ticket vending machines were installed in nine stations:

  • Bangkok Hua Lamphong Station, 2 machines;
  • Sam Sen Station, 1 machine;
  • Bang Sue Station, 1 machine;
  • Don Mueang Station, 1 machine;
  • Rangsit Station, 1 machine;
  • Chachoengsao Station, 1 machine;
  • Mahachai Station, 1 machine;
  • Wong Wian Yai Station, 1 machine;
  • Talat Phlu Station, 1 machine.

Purchasing a train ticket through a vending machine takes seven steps:

  1. Select “Buy a ticket” and select the destination;
  2. Select the train at the time you want;
  3. Select the number of passengers and class;
  4. Insert your ID card and "Pay the fare";
  5. Check the information and select "Payment";
  6. Pay by cash, with coins or banknotes;
  7. Wait for the ticket(s) and change (if any).
