"Dry Port": New Hub for Freight Transport

Mrs. Monporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport, is driving forward the Dry Port project in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The goal? To enhance freight transport in the Northeastern region, ultimately connecting with Laos, Myanmar, and China in the future. This ambitious project aims to alleviate congestion at Laem Chabang Port and promote seamless land-rail-water transportation.

Studies have shown that the area around Ban Kradon Railway Station, in Nong Khai Nam Subdistrict, Mueang District, and Kut Chik Subdistrict, Sung Noen District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, is suitable for development as a Dry Port. This area is the center of the lower Northeastern region and has key export products such as tapioca starch, rice, and sugar.

The project will use various investment models, such as Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) or joint ventures with private companies. The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) will consider the readiness to implement the project to make it a reality.

The development of this Dry Port will enhance freight transport efficiency, reduce costs, and increase transport safety. It is a significant step in elevating Thailand's economy and logistics.
