Two Commemorative Archways in Honor of His Majesty the King

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana will preside over the opening of two commemorative archways built in Bangkok in honor of His Majesty the King.

Members of the public are invited to attend an audience with Their Majesties the King and Queen at the opening ceremony, scheduled for 17.00 hr on Saturday, 25 January 2025.

The two archways are meant to commemorate two special occasions; one for the “Celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 28th July 2024,” and the other for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations in 2025.

The two archways are located on Charoen Krung Road in Phra Nakhon District. One of them, which is near Damrong Sathit bridge, was granted the name "Vajira Sathit Chet Sip Song Phansa" by His Majesty the King. The other one was granted the name “"Vajira Thamrong Chet Sip Song Phansa,” and it is situated near the Mo Mi intersection.

The Federation of Business and Professional Women of Thailand under Royal Patronage, along with the public and private sectors and Thais of Chinese origin, have joined hands in constructing the commemorative archways to show their gratitude and loyalty to the monarchy and the country.

The idea of building the archways came from consultations with the abbot of Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, which is located on Charoen Krung Road.

The construction was inspired by the concept of “Five Dragons,” which include (1) the King recognized as the “Dragon of Humanity,” (2) the zodiac year of His Majesty the King's birth (the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac), (3) the year 2024 was the Year of the Dragon, (4) Wat Mangkon Kamalawat (meaning the Dragon Lotus Temple), and (5) Charoen Krung, which is referred to as the "Dragon Road."

These two "dragon gate arches" are also expected to be a new landmark of Bangkok.
