The Science of Forest Conservation: A Unique Royal Initiative of Her Majesty the Queen

On December 24, 2020, Her Majesty the Queen visited the Princess Mother’s Garden Project in Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province. This royal initiative exemplifies the creative connection between Her Majesty's vision and natural conservation.

During the visit, Her Majesty showed particular interest in the concept of “Three Forests, Four Benefits,” a royal idea of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. This concept integrates forest conservation with improving the quality of life for the people.

The highlight of this royal activity was Her Majesty’s demonstration of “long-distance forest planting” by using a slingshot to shoot various seeds, including tamarind, Garcinia schomburgkiana, and golden shower trees. This method not only helps restore the forest but also adds fun and encourages community participation in environmental conservation.

Her Majesty expressed appreciation for this reforestation method, reflecting her vision of combining nature conservation with activities that bring joy and engage the community. This serves as an inspiration for the people to recognize the importance of sustainable forest and environmental conservation.
