Thailand Launches “Wine Fast Track” to Simplify Imported Wine Tax Procedures for Travelers

Thailand’s Excise Department has officially launched the “Wine Fast Track”
system, a new digital platform designed to streamline tax declaration and payment procedures for travelers bringing wine into the country. The initiative aims to reduce congestion at airport customs checkpoints while improving transparency and efficiency in excise tax administration. The system became operational on 11 May 2026 at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang international airports.

Under the new regulations, travelers carrying alcoholic beverages not exceeding one liter remain exempt from taxes and may proceed through the green channel. However, passengers bringing wine exceeding one liter but not more than ten liters are required to declare the products and pay related duties. Through the Wine Fast Track platform, users can calculate excise tax, customs duty, VAT, local taxes, and related fund contributions online before arrival. Travelers can access the service via the Excise Department website and Android mobile application, while an iOS version is expected soon.

According to Excise Department Director-General Dr. Pornchai Thirawet, the
digital system reflects Thailand’s broader policy to modernize government
services and support tourism by making customs procedures faster and more
convenient. The initiative is also part of the government’s efforts to integrate digital technology into tax administration and align Thailand’s alcohol import regulations with international standards. Authorities stated that the service may later expand to additional airports nationwide.
