The Ministry of Culture has outlined its position and course of action regarding the use of historical imagery and costumes at the Miss Universe Cambodia 2026 pageant, confirming that the Director-General of the Fine Arts Department has formally signed a letter of objection.

The letter calls on the organizers to cease using misleading imagery, correct the information presented, and properly cite their sources. The Ministry has also noted that it will consider legal measures to protect Thailand's cultural heritage should these requests go unaddressed.

This action is grounded in historical evidence and documented fact, not sentiment. Looking ahead, the Ministry continues to advance the nomination of Thailand's traditional dress ("Chut Thai") for UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage inscription, with the process set to take place in early December 2026 in China, a step aimed at elevating Thai heritage on the world stage and preventing misunderstandings internationally.

In parallel, the Ministry is promoting accurate understanding of Thai culture by disseminating verified information in six languages: Thai, English, French, Chinese, Japanese, and Italian.

Through these efforts, the Ministry reaffirms its unwavering dedication to safeguarding and celebrating the true essence of Thailand's cultural heritage on the world stage.
