Mr. Surapong Piyachot, Deputy Minister of Transport, has been actively promoting the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Department of Land Transport (DLT) and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT). This collaboration aims to seamlessly integrate land and rail transport networks, enhancing efficiency and reducing logistics costs.
To facilitate a smooth transition between land and rail transport, the Ministry of Transport has directed the DLT, SRT, and other affiliated agencies to work collaboratively. The goal is to ensure that infrastructure investments deliver the most efficient and beneficial outcomes for the public and service users.
This partnership between the two agencies will provide comprehensive logistics solutions, increasing efficiency and reducing transportation costs. It aims to elevate the country's logistics system to be competitive on an international level. Plans include investing in the development of Truck Terminals and Container Yards to accommodate increasing freight transport.
Both agencies have ongoing plans to develop essential infrastructure, creating an efficient and comprehensive transport network across the country. Notably, the construction of double-track railways and new railway lines will enhance transportation capacity and improve public convenience. The commitment to developing and upgrading Thailand's transport system to seamlessly connect with international transport networks will help stimulate the economy and generate income for the public and the nation.
