Mahidol University has launched the Centre of Biopharmaceutical Science for Healthy Aging (BSHA) focusing on molecular aging research as Thailand transitions into an Ageing Society.

The initiative aims to prepare Thai citizens for a healthier ageing process.

According to Assistant Professor Dr. Anutchai Maiyuteth, head of the BSHA at the Faculty of Pharmacy, the research will address age-related degeneration, a leading cause of severe illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. The BSHA's research will explore methods to slow down ageing and the diseases associated with it. Additionally, the BSHA plays a crucial role in the university's drug development projects, positioning Thailand as a hub for medical and ageing innovation in ASEAN.

Mahidol University is committed to equipping the Thai population to face the challenges of an Ageing Society through advanced ageing research, with the goal of enhancing the health and quality of life for older adults in the future.
